It is interesting to me that if I know one concrete political view for somebody, I can probably predict their stance on a range of other issues.

This is new.

It wasn’t always the case that knowing somebody’s stance on gun control, meant I could predict with reasonable accuracy how they feel about immigration, abortion, same sex marriage, etc.

There is no logical reason why all these issues should be wed.

What is scary is that this web of beliefs is translating into media as well.

If you give me a few stances on media I can begin to predict other beliefs.

If you believe that Russia had nothing to do with hacking the election, I can begin to predict what news outlets you consume, which ones you dismiss and what other news stories you do or do not believe.

What an interesting phenomena.
